Test Your Controller Online — Drift, Buttons, Triggers, Deadzone & More
Works with PS5, PS4, Xbox, Nintendo Switch Pro, 8BitDo and most USB or Bluetooth gamepads. No download, no registration, instant results, and every test runs locally in your browser.
Controller status
No Controller Detected
Connect your controller using USB or Bluetooth and press any button.
- Browsers only reveal a pad after it sends its first input — press a face button or move a stick.
- Both USB and Bluetooth work. If nothing appears at all, reconnect the controller and press a button with this page focused.
- Some remapping tools claim the pad before the browser sees it. If nothing shows up, try closing them and reloading.
- Chrome or Edge expose the most controller features, including vibration.

Troubleshooting
Controller not detected? Work through this checklist
Nine checks covering focus, cables, Bluetooth pairing, background software, DS4Windows virtual controllers and browser support — open it only if your controller is not showing up.
What this gamepad tester checks
Connect a controller and the panel above shows exactly what your browser sees: the reported device name, player slot, mapping type, button count and axis count, with every input lighting up as you press it.
From there you can run a timed stick drift measurement, find the smallest deadzone that still hides your drift, sweep every button, measure trigger travel, map stick range, try vibration, and finish with a full health score.
Why it is worth trusting
Nothing about your controller leaves this device. There is no account, no upload and no tracking of your stick movement — the readings are calculated in the page itself.
We also say plainly what a web page cannot do. A browser reads the input a controller reports; it cannot repair drift, certify hardware, or reach firmware-level information.
Frequently asked questions
- Does this controller test work without installing anything?
- Yes. It uses the Gamepad API that is already built into your browser. Connect the pad, press a button, and testing starts.
- Which controllers are supported?
- Anything your browser exposes as a gamepad: DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series and Xbox One pads, Switch Pro, 8BitDo and most generic USB or Bluetooth gamepads.
- Why is my controller not detected?
- Browsers only reveal a pad after it sends its first input, so press a button or move a stick. If nothing appears, try a USB cable, close remapping tools like Steam Input, and use Chrome or Edge.
- Does the tester upload my controller data?
- No. Every calculation happens in your browser, and results are only stored if you choose to save them to this device.
Continue testing
- Controller Stick Drift TestRun a timed resting measurement on both analog sticks. See average, median, peak and 95th percentile offset, plus a clear verdict on whether your controller is drifting.
- Controller Deadzone TestInteractive deadzone visualizer for analog sticks. Adjust the radius, see which movement gets ignored, and get a recommended minimum deadzone from your own measured resting noise.
- Controller Health CheckRun a guided full diagnostic and get a transparent controller health score with per-category results, a confidence level and a downloadable report card.
- Online Gamepad TesterFull gamepad tester showing live button states, analog stick values to three decimals, trigger travel and raw axis data for any USB or Bluetooth controller.
GamePadTestLab reports what your browser can see. It cannot repair stick drift, certify hardware, or read a controller's firmware. Read the testing methodology for exactly how each figure is calculated and where it stops being reliable.
