What is really being measured

The page counts how often the controller's reported timestamp changes and turns those intervals into a frequency. That is a genuine measurement of what a web page receives.

It is not the same as the raw USB polling rate. Browser animation timing, your monitor's refresh rate, the operating system, Bluetooth scheduling and background load all cap the observed figure.

Reading the numbers honestly

Jitter matters more than the headline Hz. Steady intervals mean predictable input; erratic intervals are what actually feel bad while playing.

No web page can certify that a controller truly polls at 1000 Hz. Treat this as a stability check, not a benchmark score.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I only see around 60 Hz?
Most browsers deliver gamepad updates in step with the display refresh rate. On a 60 Hz screen that caps what any web page can observe, regardless of the controller.
Is Bluetooth slower than USB here?
Usually, and it also tends to show higher jitter. Testing both connections on the same pad is a fair comparison.
Does a higher number mean better input lag?
Not directly. Total latency includes the game, the display and the operating system; this only measures update frequency reaching the browser.
Why does the result change between runs?
Background tabs, power saving and CPU load all affect browser scheduling. Run it a few times and use the typical result.
