Controller Vibration & Rumble Test

Trigger test effects on both motors, where your browser and controller allow it. Support varies widely, and a silent pad here does not mean a broken one.

Controller status

No Controller Detected

Connect your controller using USB or Bluetooth and press any button.

  • Browsers only reveal a pad after it sends its first input — press a face button or move a stick.
  • Both USB and Bluetooth work. If nothing appears at all, reconnect the controller and press a button with this page focused.
  • Some remapping tools claim the pad before the browser sees it. If nothing shows up, try closing them and reloading.
  • Chrome or Edge expose the most controller features, including vibration.

Troubleshooting

Controller not detected? Work through this checklist

Nine checks covering focus, cables, Bluetooth pairing, background software, DS4Windows virtual controllers and browser support — open it only if your controller is not showing up.

Strong, weak, pulse and burst

Most controllers carry two motors of different weights. The strong motor produces the deep rumble; the weak motor produces a lighter buzz. Testing them separately shows whether one has failed.

The pulse and burst patterns are useful for hearing whether the motor starts and stops cleanly rather than lagging or rattling.

Why vibration often does not work in a browser

Rumble is an optional extra in the browser gamepad interface. Many browser and controller combinations simply do not expose it, particularly over Bluetooth.

Chrome or Edge with a wired connection gives the best chance, though nothing is guaranteed. Silence here is a browser limitation, not a diagnosis.

Frequently asked questions

My controller rumbles in games but not here. Why?
Games use system-level drivers with full access. A web page only gets the limited interface the browser chooses to expose, and that support is inconsistent.
Does testing rumble damage the motors?
No. A few short test effects are far lighter use than normal gameplay.
Does this work on Safari or Firefox?
Reading inputs works widely, but vibration support is much narrower. Chrome and Edge are the most likely to expose it.
Can I test DualSense haptics specifically?
No. The fine-grained haptic feedback and adaptive triggers on a DualSense are not reachable through the standard browser interface.

Continue testing

GamePadTestLab reports what your browser can see. It cannot repair stick drift, certify hardware, or read a controller's firmware. Read the testing methodology for exactly how each figure is calculated and where it stops being reliable.
